OUR SERVICES AND EXPERTISE
Needs Assessment

We carry out community surveys and focus groups to understand the mental health challenges faced by SEW African and Afro‑Caribbean immigrants. This helps us identify the barriers they experience including cultural, spiritual, linguistic, and immigration‑related pressures and assess where current services fall short. By listening directly to women and girls, we map the gaps in support and ensure our services are shaped by their real needs and lived experiences.

Culturally Centred Projects

We deliver culturally rooted workshops that celebrate SEW African and Afro‑Caribbean heritage, including traditional crafts such as jewellery making and headwrap styling. These creative spaces promote connection, confidence, and emotional wellbeing. We also host seminars with community leaders to raise awareness of mental health, challenge stigma, and strengthen understanding of the unique experiences of African and Afro‑Caribbean women and girls.

Peer Support Groups

Our trained facilitators lead culturally grounded peer support groups where women and girls can connect through shared experiences. These groups explore key topics such as resettlement, acculturation stress, family dynamics, and practical coping strategies. Each session creates a safe, understanding space that reflects the cultural, spiritual, and social realities of SEW African and Afro‑Caribbean communities.

Our Deliverables
  1. Collaboration With Local Organisations:We work in partnership with local churches and places of worship, hairdressers, barbers, restaurants, cultural organisations, REACH staff networks, EDI groups, and community centres to reach women and girls within trusted community spaces. We also collaborate with mental health professionals and multidisciplinary teams experienced in supporting migrant communities to ensure our services are culturally and clinically informed.
  2. Improving Access to Services We maintain a clear, accessible directory of walk in mental health services, ad hoc counselling, voluntary support groups, social connection activities, and health screening opportunities. To remove barriers such as cost, transport, or mobility challenges, we also provide virtual access so women and girls can receive support wherever they are.
  3. Crisis Support: We signpost individuals to appropriate crisis services and equip community leaders with essential crisis‑management skills to ensure safe, effective responses during urgent situations.
